An interviewer tried to contact me when I was in school today (weird, huh?)

Anyways, it looks like I'm going to have my interview pretty soon, and Im kinda freaked out.

For Georgetown, are interviews more evaluative or informative?

and what kind of info about the applicant are the interviewers given? Do they see things like our Scores, EC's, GPA etc? Do they also see our ethnicity/race?

my SAT scores. Also, race is usually kind of obvious, unless you're one of those people who picked African-american because your grandfather was born in South Africa.

i had my interview last week and it went really well. Because your interviewer lives in your area, there is a chance they will try to learn something about you beforehand. Mine heard about me from his boss. Also, he was very happy that I brought in a resume with my GPA, SATs, ect, and I would say its a good idea because it was a good place to start asking questions from.

Resumes are good... But Idk if you need to put your GPA/SATs on them. My Gtown interviewer had my SAT score though, and then asked me if my grades corresponded with the score.

All they receive is some basic personal info (adress, race, etc.), and SAT scores. No GPA, no activities- just the basic personal info and SATs.

has anyone had a phone interview? This guy wants to do it over the phone instead of in person, which bums my daughter out. Sounds like he doesn't feel like driving to meet her. I am disappointed because she presents herself really well in person, better than over the phone. oh well. Doesn't seem fair, really.

That sounds really bizarre, and I'm pretty sure totally impermissible per the interviewing guidelines. I'd contact your local alumni coordinator or the admissions office and try to get another interviewer ASAP.

Well, you have to realize that she considers herself lucky to even have that, due to the local alumnus not responding to 2 phone calls, this regional rep not responding to her until she contacted the admission office and THEY called him...so complaining even more will probably only work against her. Rather unfortunate, I know.

So, get this. Now, after refusing to do an interview in person, he suggests 9 pm on a thursday night for a phone interview. Daughter says fine. Then he emails her saying he forgot it was his wife's birthday and needs to reschedule, Daughter again says Fine. He sends her an email stating he wants to do a phone interview at 6:30 am on Saturday morning. I finally told daughter to forget it.

That's crazy. I'd suggest writing a letter or an e-mail to the admissions office explaining the situation and that your daughter did everything possible, but the guy was unreasonable and stiffed her. I'm really sorry to hear about that.

I did send an email yesterday to the Sr. Assistant Director, thanks for the advice. I just wanted them to be aware why she did not have the required interview. Hopefully, it will not be held against her. Fortunately, she still regards Georgetown highly despite this turn of events.
