Considering Applied Math @ Northwestern, which is in the engineering school

Actuary, quant, various investment/banking jobs, logistics, pricing…the list goes on. Plenty of opportunities with an applied math degree.

Thank you and what should I double major that with?
I was thinking along the lines of Economics, Industrial Engineering, or Stats?

I think any of those would be fine, except stats. I don’t really know if thats worth it. I also never really understood why there is a separate statistics major at some schools. My school just offers stats courses, you can just major in math, and take stats courses for all your upper level electives. Which seems more well rounded to me.

And of course…software engineer.

If you want to go the software engineering route, you can “dual” the major with computer science. Basically take the Applied Mathematics “major” and take a more-than-minor set of CS courses. If you take enough cross-listed Math/CS courses (read: courses that are in both departments), this dual major is very doable in the same 120 semester/180 quarter credit program.

Depending on the the school, you can do a Applied Math/Industrial Engineering degree using the same method as I explained with Math/CS. Like someone stated, no need for the Statistics major. Just doing the Industrial Engineering portion will require the Stat courses you need (Experimental Design, Statistical Quality Control, Stochastics, etc).
