What kind of people do Stanford look for?

I mean if you just win a very prestigious award or something (like Intel ISEF) does that mean you have a great chance of getting in to Stanford or something?

That's what the salutatorian of my school said... he said do something mind-boggling.

you mean “mind-bottling, like when your mind is trapped, like in a bottle”

The Stanford admission office phrase for what Stanford is looking for is “intellectual vitality.” That may or may not be evidenced by major science fair awards and the like.

How soon will you be applying to college? Are you a class of 2008 student, or are you younger?

im younger
im just going to be a sophomore soon. I have earned any major accomplishments (yet). But I am ranked 1/490 in class. Im going to take 2 APs next year. I plan to take AMC 10, USAMTS, Math League, and the Tech Challenge.
There is this competition school-wide only. Im going to participate in that too.

Thats all for now. When I become a Junior, I plan to do other competitions and research (I haven’t found a place to do research though =( )

I feel Im not doing so well/much. Any advise is welcome.

you are doing fine. Come back in 2 years.

Work hard in your classes, find activities that you genuinely love and devote a lot of time to them, and, most importantly, stay off CC for at least another year and a half! It will just drive you crazy. You might think about taking SAT IIs at the end of this year and/or the end of junior year, and should get all the SAT testing done ideally before the end of your junior year so you won’t have to worry about that senior year.

You’re doing an assload more than I’m doing and I’m gonna be a Junior this year.

Haha llpitch, you are so funny when you’re talking like that
