What Kind Of Printer

Which kind of printer do you have in your dormroom or which would you recommend, in terms of inkjet vs laser and which brands for each

Don't get a Epson...if mine is anything like the rest of their products, it is loud, slow, big, and leaks ink onto the pages if it sits for too long not being used.

I have a small, basic, pretty fast, good quality, not too loud HP Photosmart 1115.

I just saw that they discontinued this model, but Im sure they have a better one by now.

my roommate brought this littler laser printer, i think the brand/model was a "Brother 720" or something like that. It was great.

Brother HL-2040... small little laser printer cheap, works goods and dosent take up as much space as other laser printers.

stay away from Lexmarks... they always break.

I have an all in one HP and the ink is cheap -i always advise people to check out how much ink costs before you buy it. my mom bought a nice HP and now her black is 30 and her color is like 35.. whereas mine is like 12 and 16.. plus I love that I can make copies of things..

I have an HP 3900 series...really cheap, all it does is print...and it's really small. I think it cost $25 so if you don't need all the bells and whistles it works.

If your school has a library where you can do unlimited or very high number of prints, then a low-end ink printer will do just fine for 2 -- 3 pages per week. But if your school does not have this kind of service, buy a laser HP 10xx series printer. They are quite cheap, reliable and of decent quality.

can u guys give prices for the printers you recommended?

For those that have/had a printer or a roommate who owned one, does that mean you guys just kept it in your rooms? I'd really hate having to run to a computer lab or library everytime I wanted to print/copy something.

^^^
That's exactly right, it was on a little stool under his desk

I like Canon because they ahve good quality stuff and white tech support.

We had a printer in our room. I bought it and my roommate and I shared it. It worked out nicely. I think I had the same one as loveduke22. It worked all year long really great. No problems at all. I'd recommend going cheap because all of the extra stuff you can do for free or very cheaply on campus, like scanning and copying. You won't have to do that stuff very often anyway.

I do in fact recommend scanning your Labs and Problem sets before turing them in. Ive had TA's loose them before.

which really sucked.
