My scores aren't high enough for a merit based scholarship from UCF, but I'm wondering if there's anything else for kids that comes from a low-income family? I will be getting the 75% Bright Future (don't know how it's calculated now) and financial aid, but I'm wondering if it will be enough to pay for tuition, dorms, book, etc... I just noticed that Bright Future doesn't pay for summer term, and if anything else will because I'm starting summer term. Any parents have experience in this kind of stuff? I don't want my parents spending too much money after the $350.00 deposit for dorms, and the $200.00 which I'm trying to get waived. Any information is greatly appreciated!

UCF is GREAT with regard to giving students lots of financial aid. Most of your official UCF costs are deferred until aid kicks in (a couple of weeks into the semester)–pretty much just housing and tuition. Books are hopefully not going to be that expensive for you–try to buy used, buy cheap, etc.

Have you completed FAFSA? Your need based aid will be based on your FAFSA EFC. Impossible for anyone to guess what sort of aid you will get without knowing your EFC.

There are a good amount of grants and stuff, I get Florida Bright Futures (scholarship) and the Pegasus scholarship, along with about 3 or 4 grants, with all those things combined my housing and tuition are completely covered each semester. I just pay for books. LIke swimcatsmom said though its pretty impossible to tell without you filling out your Fafsa and getting an EFC in return. Even then, we probably cant tell you how much you would get lol the only way youll know is once you complete your Fafsa, you will eventually get an award letter from UCF listing all your scholarships and grants together, and possible loans you could accept.

I found out more information after attending the Collegeweeklive thing… Thanks everyone. Let this thread dieee Dx

When are freshmen notified about receiving the Pegasus scholarship.?

Sent from my HTC One X using CC

Usually about two weeks after they get accepted.

UCF is generous with aid

Dang, I don’t even remember making this thread from 3 years ago, Lol. How fast time goes by…
