I live in IL and I am a junior at a school of around 1100. I have a 4.0 GPA weighted, and a 4.07 or something unweighted. I am ranked first in my class. I'm taking three AP's this year and three AP's next year (all that my school offers). My SAT is not looking good.. my PSAT was only a 198 if that tells you something. Should I take the ACT instead? I barely volunteer, when I do its through key club and student council and such. :(

I know thats a lot, but I will condense it on applications to the things that meant the most to me. Between my fresh/soph years, I took a class at Northwestern University through the CTD program. I got high school credit and an A in the class, but it wasn't college credit.

What could I do to prepare me more for applying to a college like Northwestern? Where should I apply?

Thank you for helping me out! :)

I'm an asian female from a family of two doctors, and my older brother is in a 7 year med program at UIC (in chicago). He was accepted to University of Chicago, Northwestern, and Wash U. He wasn't denied anywhere he applied but he didn't apply many places.

is anyone from illinois? I really need to go visit colleges and I don't want to be too unrealistic...

you've a chance at the lesser ivies such as cornell, brown, u of penn, and columbia etc. HYPSM will be reaches for you cause your sat is a bit low, and there isn't enough in your ec's to distinguish from the other applicants to HYPSM. But since yer ranked first in yer grade, yer chance at ivies that don't begin with the letters H, P, and Y should be fairly decent-likely.

a chance at the lower ivies? not much simply because of of ur sat, rank can't make up for that... and upenn is ranked 4th by usnews, why does everyone call it a lesser ivy, columbia is always top 5, and cornell has a top engineering program, how can any of these be considered easier to get into? u've got a chance at nw, not great tho, try to raise the sat score, as i said, rank cna't make up for that

cujoe....although i do agree with ur assessment of the ivies (i hate people that call Penn a lesser ivy when it is right behind yale)..."ur rank can't make up for that" come'on cujoe.....listen lemonhead one test on a saturday is not something u can't make up for through ur three years in high school...colleges will look for reasons to admit u not to deny u...u r number 1/1100 thats insane....there is no college that u shouldn't consider...ur up there with the best of them...plus a 1980 on the psat's is not a bad start...u get that up 100 points and u r assured admission into a top school...Northwestern should be easy for u...does ur family history mean that ur looking into medicine too...i would recommend johns hopkins as a good match, also look at all the ivies none of them are out of ur reach if u work on ur ec's a lil bit!!!

no no no.. 1100 in my school!! LOL! My class is like 250.. small town..
