-Senior year I’m planning on taking AP Stats and AP Studio Art
Clubs- CSF, Advocates for a Better Environment (ABE), a culture club, Key Club, and Student Senate (planning on joining more this year)
Leadership- Position in ABE and Student Senate (also working on this one lol)
ECs- JV Dive (1 year)
I’ve done some community service, mostly environmental stuff. Planning on adding much more to this list this and next year. Also hoping to get a volunteering position at a local hospital soon. If anyone could give some suggestions that would be much appreciated.
I know my ECs and clubs are super weak. I’m working on it!
My list of schools so far include all of the UCs except for Riverside, Merced, and Irvine, Boston University, NYU (Dream school but I probably won’t get in. Also it’s so expensive!!), McGill University, University of British Columbia, and Northwestern (again, probably won’t get in lol)
If you join more clubs to add EC’s it will look as if you are trying to pad your application. You need an EC that is a passion. Don’t join clubs because you think it will look good.
We cannot really chance you without a legitimate test score.
I’d be joining clubs that I have interest in but thank you for your feedback! I’ll come back when I’ve taken the official ACT.
UC GPA? http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Cannot chance without your UC GPA after Junior year and an final ACT score. You grades look competitive, but you want to bump up your ACT to around 30-33 range for the UC’s. I agree with @aunt bea that doing last minute EC’s will only look bad not good. Adcoms want to see consistency in the EC’s not just a large laundry list of activities.
A Kaplan 28 is likely a 25-26 on the real test so you’ll need to work very hard to bring that up.
Are you a CA resident?
McGill would be a reach or out of reach depending on the program you apply to.
@MYOS1634 Yes I am a CA resident
@chonislife McGill publishes minimum GPA and SAT/ACT cutoffs for American applicants that you can find on their website. Admission is solely based on UW GPA and SAT/ACT scores. It is not holistic and there are no hooks.
@TomSrOfBoston Thank you for that info! I didn’t know that.
