What kind of student should attend Boston University?

BostonU is as of now one of my top choices. I love the academics, opportunities it has, the location… basically everything except for a few small things.
One of the things I like to consider with my college searches is the kind of student who attends. I understand that there’s probably a wide range of different students. Are the students who go there generally nerdy? Athletic? Popular? Preppy?
I guess what I’m meaning for me personally is that I don’t want to end up stuck at a school with a bunch of people who care only about sports and frat party drinking.
I know it all depends on who you choose to hang around with but if anyone has any ideas/ experience with the general consensus of the kinds of students here, I’d really appreciate it

I was accepted but chose to commit to a different (better ;)) school; Northeastern. BU is pretty much a melting pot of everything from what I gathered. Are there kids that only care about sports and drinking? Yea of course you’ll find that even at Harvard. I have a couple friends there who I would generally categorize as driven/motivated people who are very good students and even better friends. I’m sure you’ll find your friend group there!

+1 to above. BU has a very wide social range.

Yeah very few, if any, would agree that Northeastern is a better school than BU. Northeastern is known for having gamed the rankings in an attempt artificially manufacture prestige; most people see right through it. @Syrxis

But to speak to @Astromae2033’s inquiry, BU students are truly a diverse crowd. Although it’s difficult to pin down the average BU student, stylistically I would say the student body has a more urban prep to feel it. BU has a very “work hard -” and that’s it vibe; most kids are extremely focused on academics although there still is a good crowd that will show up to parties.

Agree that Northeastern gamed it so the rankings would improve. I know two people who attended and left, really disliked it.
