I really really want to conduct some summer research jobs @ Cornell if I am accepted as class of 2013. (I am just an extremely enthusiastic Cornell hopeful.)

I wish to gain experience, and collaboration skills as well as money from such research jobs. ^^ My question is: are there any??

Cornell is a research university :-P

When you arrive as a freshman…work on your contacts. My friend got a job in a lab freshman year…so it’s doable and there are many opportunities.

For some reason I think he meant the summer before freshmen year, to which I would surmise unless you already have connections with a professor their, it would be difficult to get a something quite that early.

And what about research jobs during the semester? Are they hard to get? And can some of them be found through the Cornell’s job search engine, or it has to be directly with professors?

Some lab jobs are posted on the job site…in some courses (like microbio & biochem) the prof will advertise that someone in their department is looking for a student. In other cases…a student will make direct contact with a faculty member doing research they’re interested in to see if she can get a job with them.

So I guess it’s hard to get one this semester..
