What Kinda Paper For Submitting Apps

Alrght, I know not to submit any goofy colored paper, but I submitted my app on plain white card-stock (thick paper, kinda like poster board). I don't want to stand out in a bad way, but I felt this was better than flimsy computer paper. (I also mailed them in stiff 9x12 envelopes). Will this make me stand out in a bad way?

Well, if you already submitted it, there's nothing you can do. I submitted mine on plain white computer paper. If we're thinking of the same card stock, I'm not sure that's the route I'd take...maybe done a slightly thicker white paper instead of something that is quite so heavy, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

I still have NW and Penn to send out, I'll probably go buy some other paper then.

I've always wondered whether colleges print out online applications prior to reviewing them, or, conversely, whether they scan or otherwise enter paper applications into their computers for review. Our high school guidance counselor seemed to think that it was the latter and encouraged students to apply online as a way of eliminating possible errors during processing.

I can't imagine that the kind of paper you use could either hurt or help you so don't worry. One of my kids applied in 2003 and used high quality, slightly heavier than average paper and a large envelope and she got in just fine.

UChic scans in their apps (they show that in their photo blog). But really, using nice paper is a little bit over the top. Normal printer paper... is really fine.

Why are you even sending apps. already?

^Seriously - it allows you to send additional materials!!! YOU CAN MAKE YOUR APP MORE PERSONAL BY SENDING IT SNAIL MAIL BECAUSE THE COMMON APP SOFTWARE DOESN'T LIMIT YOU.
