I know that there is no foolproof compilation of artwork that can grant me acceptance, however, I want to hear how well particular styles (hyper-realism, abstract, contemporary, etc) do in the admissions process. Does RISD like plenty of variety in medium use and subject focuses more than distinct styles, or are they very flexible when it comes to deciding upon applicant portfolios?

You should ask this in the Visual Arts Major sub-forum. Here is the link: [Visual Arts and Film Majors - College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/visual-arts-film-majors/)
