What LACs should I apply to?

What LACs should I apply to? Which LACs give the best financial aid, and do I qualify for any merit scholarships?

4.14 Weighted GPA (highest GPA in school is 4.54)
3.5 Unweighted GPA (highest GPA in school is 4.0)

SAT: 670 CR 760 M 790 W = 2220 (single sitting) and 710 CR 760 M 790 = 2260 (Superscore)

I have no academic awards and no Sat iis, but I have decent extracurriculars and essays, and I take the toughest courseload offered at my school.

There are hundreds of LACs in the country, and we don’t know what your preferences are for location, setting, campus culture, etc. But in general, people qualify for merit scholarships at schools for which they’re significantly over-qualified. Schools don’t give scholarships to reward good students; they give them in order to attract the type of student they wouldn’t ordinarily get.

I don’t care what part of the country I have to go to. I just want to know what the best LACs I can get into are.

There is no ‘best LAC’ for your grades; you should make your decision based on fit. Most of your financial aid would depend your need, school with larger endowments tend to be more generous (Grinnell, Amherst, Williams…).

Here’s a link to US News’ 2009 LAC rankings:

Your SATs would be comparable to or above the median at virtually all of them, though the top ones tend to have UW median SATs close to 4.0.
