OK, I don't get my SAT back until the 20th, but I'm gone on a two month stint as a counselor at a sleepaway camp the very next day, so I thought I'd ask now. What LACs should I look at?

GPA: 3.4 UW, 3.8 W, school is among the most competitive public in NJ (SAT wise we're #1). I will have taken either 7 or 8 APs by the end of senior year (I'm waiting on admission to Psychology for senior year, but I can't count on it). The rest is honors, except for one year of spanish (freshman year. sophomore was honors, and junior was AP). I don't know scores for any of the AP tests yet.

SAT: 2300+ (PSAT was 223, this was much better).
760 Math 2 (might retake in Oct)
710 U.S. History

EC: Baseball, varsity 1 year, plus AAU.
I will have had two summers working at a sleepaway camp.
Habitat for Humanity, I get about 10hours of Community Service per month during the warmer seasons. This fall we're going to something like Costa Rica and building a school for underprivelaged children.
I write for the school newspaper, and the spanish newspaper.
I've volunteered for my synagogue, maybe 10-15 hours total...not major though.
I play guitar, but not for school.
Model Congress, junior & senior.
I qualified for the AIME sophomore and junior year, obviously not senior yet.
Came in third place for pre-calculus in my county math league, school came in second overall.
I tutor as well, an hour a week junior year, will continue senior year.

Wow your standardized test scores are almost exactly like mine. Except I don't know my new SAT results yet.

Awesome...well, maybe I'll give a list:
Bowdoin
Middlebury
Carleton
Colby...
...and the like.

That list is pretty good. The first three are reach/match-ish and Colby is a match/safety. Maybe look at Williams/Amherst for a reach, and you might as well go for the trifecta of Maine colleges and look at Bates. If you are in New Jersey, chances are you are considering Rutgers for your safety (I think your SAT guarentees you admission, I know a 1500 on the old test did). I'd also look at some nearby LACs like Lafayette as safeties.

Yea, Rutgers, my Grandma was also Dean of Admissions there, haha. But I'm glad I'm not completely off on my list. I'm kind've worried about my GPA, but I'm taking the hardest courseload available (either 7 or 8 APs by the end, and the rest is honors). Ah well.

If you have solid grades this yr (jr yr) you may be competitive at top LAC's.

My grades aren't all that different this year (jr. year) than they were soph year. They may have been a little better soph year, but soph year was all honors, where this year is 4 APs and 3 honors, so a much harder courseload.

Ditto Pomona -- also Claremont McKenna.

You think I could get in? I still feel like my GPA is low.

You've got geography & baseball on your side which could help. Try to get an athletic recruitment there since the coach'll love your SAT scores.

Interesting. Thanks.

Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Reed, Carleton, Colby, Williams, Middlebury, Colgate, Amherst

Are these reaches or matches? I'm aware that the SAT is good, but I'm really not happy with the GPA.

Try Wesleyan. Are you liberal? Are you artsy? It's all you.

Plus 2300 is pretty high, so it will help balance out your not-so-good grades at a place like Wesleyan. However, from your stats you don't really seem interesting enough for them, although you're obviously intelligent.

Oh yea, politically...let's just say I'm on the left. We'll leave it there, haha.

Wesleyan is DEFINITELY left. We'll just leave it there.
