I'm going to the University of South Carolina this fall and I'm going to be major in International Business and Finance and I'm required to minor in a foreign language also.

I'm quite torn between what I want to learn. I've considered learning Chinese but I'm not entirely sure if I want to study abroad or conduct business in an Asian nation. I've also considered either Arabic or German.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

IMO, if you REALLY want to get into Finance at a global level, then German may be more beneficial (now) than either Arabic or Chinese. But, if you plan on staying stateside in the finance realm, then Chinese may be more beneficial. I would attribute this to the fact that more Chinese businessmen are coming/traveling to the US because of a growing number of middle-class in China (though, most still live in poverty as a whole).

Abroad (and if you have aspirations to work at the WB or WTO) - German.
Domestic - Chinese.

Though, I think English is a very predominant business language, so you shouldn’t be expected to be extremely fluent, but someone with actual Int’l Biz exp can chime in on that.
