So I'm sort of in the dark about what I should shoot for. Some people tell me I might be Ivy material, while others say I should be happy if I can get into a good state school. I'm applying to Stanford, Duke, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University.

Also I don't know if this counts for anything, but I'm into math so I managed to get enrolled in a Calculus 3 class at Elon University through a "Credit Bank" program.

Test Scores:
PSAT: 198
SAT I: Writing(700), Reading(670), Math(800) -- Total(2170), but planning to retake
SAT II's: MathLevel2(770), Biology(720), trying to decide if its worth it to take Chemistry, even if it wouldn't be in time for applications.

I've held a part time job for over a year, and I've also volunteered from time to time at my community center for the past 5 years.

Academically you are definitely “Ivy league” material. The only thing you’re really missing is some examples of leadership. Are you the president of any of those clubs/organizations? Have you lead any sort of community project? From my understanding colleges are big on “leadership”. I believe your only challenge will be Stanford.(which you will still get into if all goes well )

This is coming from another high school student though. (My resume is also substantially weaker than yours at that.)

Actually, that’s the problem. I’m not the president or really an office holder of anything, just a member in a lot of things. The only thing I’m heavily involved in is my mosque (I’m a Muslim) and I do a lot community stuff sponsored by it, but none of its documented or anything, so I can’t really provide a definite number of hours.

The SAT would need to go up for any real shot at ivies/Stanford–probably even Duke. Too many 800M Asian candidates with low CR and no outstanding ECs.
