What looks better for math?

For Senior year,

Honors precalc or AP Stat?

How about:

regular Precalc or AP Stat

and for an elective, would it be more impressive to make my schedule two sciences or two maths? the two maths being hon or regular precalc + AP Statistics
the two sciences being AP Bio and Hon. Physics or AP environmental sci.

top colleges, what is most impressive as a senior who cannot take calculus because I will be a senior in high school.

Mainly UC's btw.

take both.

^Like he said take both.

But for some people like me I couldn't take both. So I chose H PreCal.

If you have to chose one take H PreCal. For my school at least it's harder.

it wouldnt let me edit anymore, but i just wanted everyone to know that i may not be able to take 5 ap/honors, so if i was to HAVE to cut hon. precalc to regular, which would look better compared to stat.

I dont know if i make sense, but if it was Hon. precalc vs. ap stat, hon. precalc would probably look better,

but if i HAD to do regular precalc vs. ap stat.. which would be better?
im wondering for both situations.

precalculus is really important and you REALLY should take it regardless of the difficulty level.

I second jfs4691.

would taking ap stat put me at a disadvantage? becausei know i already am at a disadvantage becasue i will not have taken ap calculus by graduation.

It will be even more disadvantageous to not take pre-calc before graduation.
No matter what you do, regardless of honors vs. regular, make sure you take pre-calc.

taking AP Stat wouldn't put you at a disadvantage obviously...

try to take Honors Precalculus if you can.

Precalc, without a doubt. Doesn't matter if it's honors or not.

if you can take BOTH honors precalc and AP Stat, it would be great but if you can only take one, take honors precalc.

precalc. one of the math teachers at my school said that you should only really need to take stat if you're gonna get some kind of business degree

um, someone definitely asked the exact same question a few days ago.

do precalc.

take both.

Personally, I thought precalc was just a recap of what we'd learned in Algebra II. If there's some way you can self-study it and then take the midterm and final (you can do this at our school) and have it count for credit, you could free up your schedule for other things.

Maybe in high school, but I'm pretty sure that stuff like ecology, evolutionary biology, politics, bioinformatics, and genetics need some or lot of statistics.

Take AP Stat - you can always learn precalc in college and AP's help you get into college

No, I don't think that's true. Not taking Pre-Calculus is going to be a huge deal if you're applying to competitive colleges. Even though AP Stats is an AP, Pre-Calc is really really important.

No No No No No NOOOOOTTTTT AP STATS. AP Stats is an elective course, something completely nonessential to success in most college math.

Top colleges will insist that you have at least finished through pre-calc by graduation in order to be ready for college math; algebra II just doesn't cut it.

Honors PreCalc or Regular Precalc are both better.

As for science, that depends. Which sciences have you already taken?
