What looks better on an official transcript, an A+ or a Pass?

I'm taking marching band in high school, which consists of 2 periods (0 and 1st). I can choose to have either an A+ for both periods or an A+ and a Pass. If I go with the pass, my GPA will be raised. An A+ is equivalent to a 4.3, which will bring my GPA (4.7) average down. I was wondering though on the official high school transcript, will colleges look down upon the pass? Should I keep both periods as A+'s? I think I'd rather have the GPA bump.

If it’s clear that you are passionate in band, the A+ will be irrelevant. I would probably go for the pass

Your school’s gonna send a document explaining everything, so colleges will know that a pass is still an A+, it just raises your GPA.

Go for the GPA boost.

Go for the GPA boost AND have your counselor include in his/her letter that the “Pass” in band was an A+, but that’s just how your school does it.

Otherwise you risk colleges thinking you got a low C.

I seriously doubt any college will be heavily scrutinizing your grades in band

^Especially if one is A+

If they really cared, they would notice that you have an A+ in one period, so it’s logical that in the other you don’t have a C.

Go for the pass

Pass, especially if most people get A+'s. (Like 99% of people end up with 100’s at my school in band anyway)

alright thanks everybody!! and yep ^ it’s true, all you have to do is show up to band in the morning and you’ll have an A+!
