What made you apply for Univ. of Michigan?

Hi~ I've applied for U of M just a month ago. And I'm really looking forward to admission to the school. :)
I was just wondering... what made you guys want to apply for the school?
What kind of things most attracted you?
Is it the reputation, size of school, school's atmosphere,...?

I applied to Michigan because of the following reasons...in order of importance:

Quality of departments I was considering (Economics, History, Mathematics Physics and Political Science).

2) Ann Arbor. After visiting the campus and the town, I was in love.

3) Advice I got from people I respect greatly (parents, top professors at other top universities and CEOs of the most exclusive Investment Banks). They all told me Michigan was probably the best place to spend 4 undergraduate years.

4) Michigan's reputation in the World's more important nations (France, Germany, England, Netherlands, Spain, Japan etc...).

I think its good overall and especially if youre undecided, thats useful. I like the Business School. I like the town. My sister and friends go there. Its rolling, so I was hoping to get a result quickly (a little dissapointed there). Its close to home. Most of all, it has an honors program that would probably make the educational experience the equivalent of an ivy or ivy-like school in my opinion.

I applied to UM for so many reasons. I am a dedicated guitarist and the Ann Arbor music scene is so alive, and I like the school spirit of Michigan with the big ten sports. I see it as 38,000 different students to meet over the 4 years of my college tenure. It may sound odd, but I really like the Michigan mentality. I'm from Boston originally, but I live in New York City now, and I realize how elitist the Northeast seems to so many people. Michigan, on the other hand, has more of a blue collar mentality, if you will, and I appreciate that. Maybe I'm not making much sense, but I love the school and I hope to find out a decision soon, although I'm not sure I will get in.

Michigan has the best sports management school in the nation. And as a minority, the diversity at Michigan played a large role in me making the school my top choice. I also love the school spirit, and the advice that I have gotten from people similar to my personality, is that it is the best there is.

Spending the summer there for my TASP. Ann Arbor is a great town, the campus is beautiful, and the history department is top-notch.
