I'd like to hear what others are doing and why. I am thinking of doing a CS major because I like computers, but I don't necesarily want to work on a computer all day.

You are posting in a section of a forum called "Engineering Majors" ;)

pretty sure he knows that...

EE because the others are all really boring to me and I like electronics.

Ece :-d .

I'm doing CSSE (computer science and software engineering).

Reason:

In the next 40 years, computer hardware will be very fast, small, and very cheap which would be available to everyone. A lot of software programs will be needed to keep them running. One will not stop IBM (and many more computer companies) and the rest of the world from investing into nano/infotechnology. It is our tools from our intelligence that provides all this remarkable technology, eventually these tools will prevail us. As I mentioned before, this is the 21st Century, don't expect to be living like your parents.

Here is some good information about technology overall.

RHSstudent07, you've decided I see :)

CmpE. The degree is very versatile, and I find myself eventually liking most of the material, if not initially.

yep. I wish I had multiple lives connected to one central processing unit to do it all.

^ I did research work and I main concern was the job outlook for a physics and the urge on knowledge that I couldn't miss in CSSE.

EE and have no idea why im even doing engineering..its ridiculous

but i like it

I am in physics/CS double major. I just recently changed to this major from my previous one: physics/EE double major.

Reason: Engineering is too easy, and CS is more challenging.... well for me anyways

wow, most of you guys are EE, or CSE/CS or Comp E...

I am a mechanical engineer. I work at a power plant in the performance engineering team. I like dealing with mechanical things and running projects.

General Engineer- cuz i'm a masochist.

Materials engineering - because they gave me free beer.

Biomedical Engineering -- because I have to pause and take a breath before I can get the whole name out of my mouth. And because when women hear the words "Bio, Medical, and Engineer" @ the same time, they throw themselves at you.

Civil Engineering ... because I want to work in real estate development. I'm concentrating heavily on land use and development for my high level tech electives in undergrad and plan to go to a dual program for a masters in urban planning and then law school. When you find something that interests you it just hits you that it's what you should do with your life. Mine was community planning. I can read stuff about urban planning and design for hours and I don't get bored.

chemical engineering.......coz when u say it,pplethink u r from the planet jupiter.lol

ME. It's a versatile degree and I generally like knowing how physical systems work.

Computer Science.
I want to design algorithms for A.I.
