I want to go to UCLA because its my dream school and after being heart broken senior year, I decided to go to a JC and still persue my dream. I didn't want to go to riverside becuase I heard the my degree won't be worth much there. I want to be an engineering major, but I know CAL and UCLA are really competative schools for those majors? so will my chances of getting in UCLA/CAL be easier under an ECON major or an Engineering major? Also I was thinking about taking hard engineering classes like physics mechanics and upto calculus 3, but apply as an Econ major so when I get into UCLA or CAL I can make the switch easier. I'm prolly not gonna apply as an engineering major because I won't get in without finishing all the engineering pre-reqs in time and I for damn sure don't want to stay at my CC any longer. So should i apply as an econ major taking some of the engineering classes since you only need macro, micro, cal 1 and 2 for econ or stay at my raggedy CC for another year and half? I want UCLA soo bad lol I have a 3.89 and im taki calc 1, english 101, macro and chem200 with lab

if you’re an engineering/math type, try applying as a Math-Economics major. Same as Econ, but a couple more prereqs: Linear Algebra, Calc 3, Differential Equations, and C++. It’s not impacted and has a pretty generous acceptance rate given you have a decent GPA and all prereqs finished.

It will be no easier getting in under Econ. Also, once you get in under Econ:
UCLA- You are stuck in the major
Berkeley-You can only switch to a major within the school or letters and sciences (or whatever its called)

UCLA admits by major and the admit rates are published online.
