What major should i change to, and is UCI really that bad?

I was admitted to UCLA bizecon but they changed their minds because I might get a "C" in Calc2. I talked to my counselor at UCI and she said if i get a "C", then i might have to change my major from econ to something else. I am studying hard to get the "B", but want to be prepared for the worst. I asked her if i do end up w/"C", can i ask my prof. to give me "D" and retake it in the summer. She hasn't replied. I want to know, if the worst happens, what major should I change to. My alt. major was International studies (i don't have a clue what the hell that is: i chose it randomly LMAO). I might decide to even go to CSULB if i can't be econ major (UCR is out of the question).

Another question. I have friends who went to UCI who say that Irvine (the city) sucks their balls, and want to know if this is the case. I've been there before and know it is very suburban w/lots of asians. My particular question is Are there fun things to do, or do most people drive to L.A. for excitement. And, are alot of the asians there white-washed and estudious, or are they wannabe hollywood that party in rice fields (K, take the rice part out)?

Being an Asian myself, that's pretty harsh. Do you want white washed Asians?

How did UCLA reject you for a C? Don't you just have to get a 3.0 GPA or are you a transfer student? UCI is definitely not bad. UCI is coming out with new econ/business majors (read around for more info). Sure, it can get boring on campus, but that's why you have OC to roam around.

I, for one, will be a studious student once I set my foot on campus. The studious side of me is dormant atm due to senioritis. There will always be studious students at UCI; it's a huge school. Don't forget the regents/CHP students. You'll definitely find your crowd in the many students, unless you lock yourself out of the community.

i'm a transfer, and i am asian. Plz don't get offended by my remarks. I'm so white-washed and want to keep it that way. UCI students: HELP!!!!!!!
bump

I just heard from my UCI counselor and am glad to hear i dont have to change my major (just have to retake and get at least a B). So scratch the changing major B.S. (YES!!! I DON'T HAVE TO BE A INTERNATIONAL STUDIES MAJOR!!!! whatever that is).

I live in Irvine...5 min. from UCI...and am transferring to UCLA this fall. Irvine is a very safe, clean and boring city. the UCI campus IMO sucks...construction everywhere and boring as hell. Don't really know about the social scene there but from what I hear it's regarded as a commuter school.

"I, for one, will be a studious student once I set my foot on campus. The studious side of me is dormant atm due to senioritis."

I'm in exactly the same situation :-).

To the original poster: There are fun things to do in Irvine, both on campus and in the city itself. (For example, there are movie theaters, restaurants, etc.) Yet I myself am not a huge partier--or a partier at all, in fact--so if you're wondering about that kind of entertainment, well...I can't really help you.

For what it's worth, I went to the Stayover Program this year (I'm currently a senior in high school) and I had a great time. A lot of people seem to like it at Irvine, which is wonderful. True, UCI's not Cal or UCLA, but it's still very prestigious and exciting in its own right. I can't really speak for you, but I know I'll be happy there.

In regards to Citan's post: yea, i live in WLA rite now and am loving it here (except for the outrageous rent). I am contemplating whether I should commute to UCI, or move there. Commute=2 hrs. of my life wasted everyday i have to go to class, but alot more excitement and shorter distance to my good friends. Move to Irvine= boring life, cheaper rent, and did i mention living in a boring town. What do you Irvine residents think? I forgot to add that the boredom in Irvine could prove to be a wonderful thing; 4.0 gpa cuz there's nothing else to do but study. But it could have the opposite effect, and i might commit suicide adding a 1 to the college student suicides. LMAO.

LOL. 119 views but only 3 people responded. OMG!!! Irvine is alot further than I first expected! OMG! (sob), i'm never gonna see my la friends again. Do any of u commute to UCI? If yes, where do you live and how long does it take u? I want to stay as close to LA as possible, but i know i might commit suicide from the stress and road rage the 405 is going to cause me.

Sure, UCI is boring but everybody forgets they have Laguna, Huntington, Newport, and Corona Del Mar to screw around at. They also have Orange County to roam around, South Coast Plaza, Fashion Island, Irvine Spectrum, etc...

I know its no LA, but if you want to have fun youll have fun. Dont expect opportunities to come to you.

And for what it matters: all of my friends at UCLA say its boring as hell there. Theyre all leaving to CAL.

Is it necessary to stay in LA for college? Sure West LA might be more "happening", but maybe a "boring" place like Irvine is a better atmosphere - not as many distractions.

Man, I was ready for new experiences and a change of pace, regardless of what college I went to.

And also, most of your time in college is spent in class, studying, hanging with friends, meeting new friends, getting involved in intramurals, clubs, working out or whatever.
