On my application it asks me to choose what my areas of interest are
I'm leaning towards becoming a journalist but since Umich doesnt offer journalism, should I choose English or just undecided (and then pick once i become a sophomore?)

I’d pick undecided since you still don’t know what you want to do. It won’t hurt and you can change easily in your Sophomore year.

I would choose english simply because its better on applications to be sure of what you’re going to pursue. (i.e. it sounds nicer to say “I believe my future lies in english because so and so” rather than “I’m not sure what I wish to do”)

I would choose the major that you are most interested in unless you absolutely have no idea in which case I would choose undecided. There is nothing wrong in letting your college experience help influence your decision. If you choose something it is not binding. You will be asked to write an essay about your educational interest so you may want to think about that when you answer this question.

Do my chances hurt if I apply as undecided??

^no (10char)
