What majors are especially competitive in application(freshman applicants)

I am interested in lots of majors related to humanity and social science, such as legal studies/psychology/east Asian studies/gender studies/art history/musiology/criminology/history/sociology/politics/philosophy/anthropology/media studies/religious studies/film studies.Lots of these programs are quite prestigious.I wonder which majors may have a slightly higher acceptance rate(for acceptance rates are calculated according to different colleges)? Thanks a lot!

CMC does not accept by major, and students are only required to declare major by sophomore year, and may change their major at any time. So the major which you say that you are interested in will not really affect your chances.

Given your range of interests, when short-listing possible colleges check out their distribution requirements (aka General Education requirements). Also keep an eye out for the colleges that particularly note that they have advising for students whose major is ‘undecided’: a good advisor can help you find classes that will let you taste test different majors while getting Gen Eds completed, so that you don’t end up needing extra time to graduate.

None of the Claremont Colleges admit by major. As with your previous thread, your inclination to try to “game” CMC’s admissions system will only work against you if AO’s, who have seen it all and are hard to fool, sense that you are just trying to tell them what they want to hear instead of presenting yourself authentically. You have many areas of interest and hope to explore before choosing a major - this is what the 5C’s expect and appreciate. (If there’s any prospective major that’s over-represented at CMC, it would be econ, and that’s not even on your list.)

The only clear strategic advantage here is applying ED, which I’m guessing you probably are.
