Thanks.

Finance at a top school. If you don't have finance at your school and it is still elite than do econ.

Kind of like this:
Harvard Econ > Maryland Finance
Wharton Finance > Duke Econ

Something liek that. Prestiege is everything.

wat bout stern finance and duke econ?

Stern Finance is certainly good.

Im going to Stern next year and am doing finance as my first major, but am interested in a second major. I was told my some people that going into psychology as a minor or major would certainly be advantageous in the business world and especially the markets. However, double majoring within the school would probably be much easier to accomplish. Saying that, in ibanking, what would be the best major to do if i am doing my first major in finance. Also, I am considering asset management as another career option.

Here are the majors offered at stern:
Accounting
Actuarial Science
Economics
Finance
Information Systems
International Business (co-major) only
Management and Organizational Behavior
Marketing
Operations Management
Statistics

accouting, econ, stat would all be good second choices...anything math related also I think would be a great supplement to a finance major planning on going into the Wall Street arena

I am doing both Finance and Accounting (#1 in the nation) at UT McCombs for the next four years. Or at least that"s the direction I want to head in.

What if your school is neither elite or a top school? I am forced to go to my state school due to financial reasons but have an interest in finanace/accounting. Do you guys feel I have no chance on landing a decent job going to an average school =/?

Of course you do, not everyone in a descent job went to the best schools.

Right so;

Could anyone list

Best Finance majors available: Best Economics major available:

how does tufts econ+math compared to Ross finance?

Tufts is probz better.

So what are the best offered Finance majors and what are the best Economics majors?

so you would suggest a stern finance degree over a duke econ degree?

What about engineering at a top engineering school like Berkeley, Stanford, MIT.

You should go to Ross, and if you're interested in being a quant type then you can do Finace + Math over there.

Then you really have to stand out as well as prepare yourself to accept that you might not get what you want.

Keep your options open (double major) and give it your best effort. See where that takes you.

BEST FINANCE:
1. Wharton
2. NYU Stern
3. UMich-Ann Arbor
4. UC Berkeley
5. UT-Austin
6. MIT
7. Indiana
8. Ohio State
9. Carnegie Mellon
10. UNC-CH
10. USC

And best Economics?

Best Econ (in no particular order): MIT, UChicago, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford
I don't think any one can be considered better than the other.
