<p>What made you stand out, what made duke have to have you? Any unique accomplishments or personal situation?</p>
<p>for myself, i'd say it was that i started my own online company that's been considerably successful and i'm first gen college student...</p>

<p>For me, I'd say that it was overall well-roundedness. I'm not truly gifted at any one thing but am a very diligent and hardworker who has done a lot of stuff - nuclear physics research, lots of hard classes, enrolled in both high school and college courses w/ strait A's at both, advanced pianist w/ 50+ awards, artist, part-time job, multiple offices, clubs, community service oriented, etc... So it was a cumulation of things that got me in.</p>

<p>I got good enough SAT scores.</p>
<p>I doubt what makes me unique is the same reason I was admitted</p>
<p>leejwwc, you can not write that you are not "gifted at any one thing", then say your have done "nuclear physics research" -0-;;</p>
<p>in all seriousness, I'm not - I enjoy doing science type stuff and although that was an extremely interesting field for me, it was also one of the most difficult things I have experienced academically</p>
