What makes USC so special?

I'm a junior trying to figure out where I'll be applying next year, and people always mention USC and the amazing trojan family.

I'm impressed by their major offerings and programs, but I'm wondering what makes USC so great?

Here’s a light-hearted thread from the recent past where USC families discuss some of the things they people LOVE about USC:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/396126-101-things-you-like-about-usc.html?highlight=101

I toured USC and it is basically the perfect school. Provided you want to go to a big university.
All of their programs are incredible. Since they have such great programs in basically any field you would want to study, you will get a top-notch education no matter your major. Also, they have severals colleges within the university so if you aren’t sure what you’re career goals are you can enter CAS then try to transfer to a more specific one, like business.
After graduation USC has connections with a lot of well-known businesses in multiple industries. The Trojan Family is the alumni network and it’s incredibly strong. You will be able to use it to help you get internships and jobs.
USC also has the most diverse student body in the country. When I toured last summer they told us they had students from 120 countries every year. So, you can learn a lot about different parts of the world right on campus. They also have study abroad programs in 30+ countries so you’ll be able to do that easily.
Since they’re a private school there are more scholarships available than most public schools. They’re very helpful when it comes to affording a USC education.
The libraries are awesome. Imagine the libraries in movies with tall shelf after tall shelf full of books and you’ve got USC.
The campus spirit is awesome. Everyone loves the sports teams and has fun on game days.
Being in L.A., there is lot to do on weekends and you never get bored. The big city also helps with internships. Also, the weather is unbeatable.
Finally, the diversity leads to a large amount of student organizations. You’ll be able to find at least one club that you’ll love and get to know people through that.

My daughter liked being able to major in engineering, play in the orchestra, sing in the chorus, be on the triathlon team (running and biking to the beach communities and back with teammates and competing all around CA) thematic option (honors humanities program), Visions and Voices (arts program on campus and in nearby venues), significant scholarships, and the preference for Trojans for internships and job placement. She also became a football fan. She made many friends, women in engineering, who studied together and helped each other make it through the challenging curriculum.

My D likes the diversity, combined with a traditional school spirit. Very cool! Plus terrific adacemics…and she says it doesn’t have the off-putting nature of some of the “elite” schools that try to make you think you don’t belong…or should just not apply if there is even a question in your mind.
