Or, really, why did you choose it?
I’m sorry…bump?
My D chose Wesleyan because she fell in love when we visited WesFest. She is taking a Gap Year so will not be starting until the Fall of 2016. But we could see it was the ideal place for her for many reasons. The kids we met there all seemed very intelligent, involved and friendly. They all had different passions and loved being there, studying and playing. She loves the idea of “open curriculum”. She was looking for a place where kids are involved in social action. We are very happy for her, it just seems like a perfect fit for her. I wish it had better name recognition despite the fact it is ranked so highly, people I tell where she will be attending typically get it confused with other schools or just do not know of it. We live in the northeast.
Exactly ditto for why my son choose it. Plus one other thing. While the students are very intellectually engaged in their studies, Wes is a very supportive, and non-competitive environment. My S was coming from a very competitive high school and was really looking for a different experience: one where students were genuinely interested in their studies and not in just grades, and didn’t feel like they were in competition with each other. He is now a rising senior, and it has certainly delivered on reasons he choose it to begin with.
