Was just curious to see what the rest of y'all think of yourselves. :)

Nothing :)

I’d say nothing, too…
Maybe just the fact that i’m more well rounded than some of the other applicants (international pool), but well… I don’t have big medals either…

I’ve been told my circumstances are my hook, but I’m sure I won’t be admitted just on that basis. Academically, I’m just the average 4.0 guy and my ECs are pretty few, but focused.

Already convinced myself that MIT is out of my reach, so disappointment won’t take take me by surprise. Good luck to all the other applicants!

Same here about the circumstances, losing a parent and having to change a lot of my lifestyle with low income, general upward trend in grades + attendance (I missed about half of middle school from depression, same with freshman year).

My hook is that I was informally suspended from my high school because I stood up against high school authorities’ contradictory decisions and unfair treatments. I wrote in the additional essay about how I stood up against the authority, informally suspended without legitimate procedure of the school, severe persecution (GPA AP scores etc), and what I gained from such experience. I’m not sure if such characteristic is a good fit for MIT. I think this essay is more fit to Stanford because of their impression of being ‘liberal’.
