I'm Jewish, from IL, and I wrote a short story as an independent project.

MY d is Battalion Commander of the only junior coast guard of the U.S, and she is french and since 2001 became American, she speaks 3 languages fluently and she is learning chinese and japanese this year....

My son's niche was that he survived being in a house where bug bombs were set off in the attic to rid the place of palmetto bugs (these are the HUGE 2 inch S Florida cockroaches), and sat by in placid bemusement as the refugees descended from above...

His only major curricular (and it was major, but hardly unique) was peer tutoring.

He was accepted to his #1 school.

The key is to just present yourself as somebody someone would want to hang out with for the next 4 years (this is esp relevant to small schools). It's a lot about being likable. The Dean from Yale said they hardly look at stats because 85% of the applications are from people with stats high enough to show the applicant could handle the work.

Thanks for the encouragement MattsMom.

I started a Frisbee Club at my very pro-football/basketball school. I attend school in Southeastern America.

I also started (or rather lobbied for) a debate team at my pro-athlete school.

I study Latin for fun. I speak Hindi and Urdu fluently.

I'm also South Asian, but that's clearly not a niche.

Sh00ped a picture of my face into a Word doc instead of write an essay. YA'RLY.

sent in a modeling pic and spread glitter EVERYWHERE on my application before sending it in. also survived multiple attacks on my life by George W Bush

I won a crossdressing pageant XD

but more realistically..

I think my extracurriculars will help me out; really involved in science research (published in a professional journal, ISEF, Siemens), plus heavy involvement in theater, plus public speaking stuff (emcee of nat'l conference), as well as other random leadership/ gov/political involvement.

woo woo

But I still have this scary feeling that I'll get rejected from everywhere (I havent heard back from any schools yet) and I stress out to no end...yargh

invented THE drink for the post-caffeinated generation: DeadBull

^^ WHat was the crossdressing competition you won called, Mr. Miss America? ;)

Im the son of the dean of harvard

my Father owns the university (Father = God, God owns the earth, and by extension, the university i want to attend)

I'm sexxxy;)

I volunteer at the library, and I help elementary school children with homework after school, they're immigrants and their parent's don't speak english. I also speak French and I'm a great painter. It's not too significant, but it all shows my interest in foreign affairs and social service, both of which I'm very passionate about.

I also speak French (President of the club). It's not too significant, but it all shows my interest in foreign affairs, international relations and social service, both of which I'm very passionate about. And I founded an Ultimate Frisbee Club at my school and I'm president.

I am or have been involved on nearly every level of the real-time strategy game industry.

I play violin competitively, and am also obsessed with near-suicidal outdoor adventure.

I have been attending community college since age 13.

I am equally talented in the humanities and sciences - 800s on both Literature and Physics (ok probably not so unique, but I think it's an important point :P)

I wrote my essay about my first solo flight.

i pee in the shower.

lol seriously i had no hooks when i applied.

My ability to play an adequate rock guitar solo. Actually my involvement in sign language for two years is probably more interesting. I didn't learn much about the language (I can communicate the most basic concepts to a deaf person or hard of hearing person who can sign , which is more than most people can do without miming or pencil and paper) but I did learn and amazing amount about the culture, and it shows.
