What Master degree leads me to a career in Equities Research?

Dear fellows,

I am an undergraduate senior at UCLA. I am very interested in a career in Equities Research in the future. I didn't get any offer from I-banks now, so I am thinking of getting a master degree after working for two years.

Could anyone suggest what kinds of master degree I should get (MSc in finance? MSc in Economics?) , and what business school in UK are good?

Thank you so much for your time and generous advice. I really appreciate it!

The MSc in finance from a top school would probably be your best bet. What was your undergrad major? If it wasn’t economics, physics, engineering or math then I think you will have a hard time getting into the MSc economics program.

Thx a lot nauru!! I am doing a double major in Math and Econ at UCLA. So MSc in finance is better than MSc in Econ? i see…thanks!

I didn’t say that…

Your first consideration should be the university. Whether your MSc is in finance or econ is really secondary. The most important thing is that your degree (whatever subject it happens to be) is from a heavily targeted university.
