What Matters The Most??? PLEASE HELP!

not only is no part of the app more important than another, chancing is completely ludicrous!

Very few applicants are completely unqualified. You definitely have a chance! Jeez, like we can just read the admins' mind and say "yes, he liked you, you have a 99% chance of getting in" or "she liked you but you had a booger hanging out of your nose at the interview. this gives you a 77% chance of getting in" or "your application was wonderful, but you didn't connect at your interview, your essay left something to be desired, and you don't have stellar ec's. Sorry, but you only have a 16% chance of acceptance"

You are obviously qualified, and you know the acceptance rates at these schools. about 20% of the applicants get in. only about 5% of the applicants (max) are completely unqualified. so around 95% of the applicants HAVE A CHANCE! It's just some very minute details that determine whether you get an acceptance letter or a rejection letter (or wait list). So you can't really chance it.

in any case, CC generally attracts only the most obsessive applicants. So that fact that you were interested enough in BS to look for a chat site means that you are obsessive enough to get into boarding school. Dedication is seriously important (duh)

yeh, good luck to all.

Interviews are definitely the most important component.

Standardized testing and interviews are the only head to head comparisons the school has.

so if we did great on the test and with interviews, but the rest is just okay, do you think thats a good ticket? because that describes my whole application haha.

that's exactly my app too!

well spoken interview and 95% test, and then just paper stats like the rest of us, what kid on here doesnt have a 4.0, good teacher rep and "okay" essays... we are all the same in those fields.

again, it's minute details. say your essay was ok, your recs were great, and you got 98% on the SSAT (like me!), and your ec's are a good combination of arts, athletics, and community service.

If you and someone else have the exact same aforementioned qualifications, it could come down to the interview. If the other person came off as a little bit more worldly, they might get in and not you.

my advice is to JUST RELAX! you can't change anything, so obsessing about your chances (which will be bogus anyway, it's the blind leading the blind) just affects you negatively, What's done is done (or not. we have 'till M10. I mean that YOU can't affect your chances of getting in anymore).

LOL... I certainly don't have a 4.0. My cumulative middle school and high school GPA is about a 3.7. That said, my current school is a fairly competitive private boarding and say school, so I assume that in comparison with most other schools that kids would be transferring from my 3.7 would be equivalent to or greater than a 4.0. I don't know... I do hope, though.

yeh, not saying this in a boastful way, but my intelligence is just so much greater than anyone in my town for my age. they make me walk to the high school down the street for some of my classes just because its pointless to make me sit there. i fell asleep in one of my classes 3 times this trimester because i had already taken that course over the summer and its just common knowledge stuff for someone who knows life. My teacher was constantly screaming at me, i just laughed because my test average was a 104 haha. thats why i want more of a challenge. BS is the best oppurtunity. its suprising the difference between public and private. i live in the wealthiest area of the wealthiest state and my county(fairfield county) has the best SAT scores in the country and it has some of the best public schools, but seroiusly there are 4 or 5 very intelligent kids, then the rest really drops off. i want to be put in an evironment with 100 intelligent kids.

I know you said you didn't want to be boastful, but... you couldn't have worded that in a less boastful way?

we30- I hope for the sake of your applications, the teacher that was constantly screaming at you wasn't one who provided recommendations.

yea I agree. SSAT's matter because they want smart kids but they mainly want kids who will contribute to their community. They would take someone who's a great musician and great actor with 85% SSAT over someone with just 95% SSAT scores and nothing else to offer. So they matter but not very much.
