<p>The University of Dayton in Ohio offers substantial scholarship awards and has a wonderful Honors Program for selected students. My daughter was a Berry Scholar/ math major and received a great education at UD.</p>
<p>The only college in Indiana that offers an actuarial science major is Ball State. I have a friend who went to Depauw and ended up becomming an actuary. Though he enjoyed his time at Depauw, he always felt like he had to scramble in order to catch up with the Ball State actuarial students who usually had at least a couple of the tests in the bag by the time they graduated. </p>
<p>For top students who know that they want to pursue an actuarial degree, Ball State is not a bad choice and will probably be pretty liberal with merit $. The problem with Ball State, in my opinion, is that after you move out of a couple of the select offerings/majors, you kind of have a mixed bag academically speaking.</p>
<p>Actually, Purdue also offer actuarial science program, so Ball State is not the only one. </p>
<p>Ball State may be a good option if you are looking for both a good actuarial program as well as good merit money. It may not ranked as high up as some of the other schools (Michigan, UW-Madison, UIllinois, etc.), but Ball State certainly has a well respected actuarial program. D graduated from Umich and works as an actuary. There are lots of BSU grads at her office.</p>
<p>Otherwise, Purdue also has merit scholarships and so does Umich. I believe both Purdue and Umich have preference for in-state students though.</p>

<p>Really? According to U.S. News, 42% of OOS students at Michigan receive NON-need-based gift aid, at an average award of $11,461. These figures actually strike me as very high, both as to the percentage of OOS students receiving non-need-based aid and as to the size of the average award.</p>
<p>Truman State University. About 6,000-7,000 students I think. Kirksville, Mo. Minor in actuarial science. COA about 13,000. Extremely generous merit aid for good students.</p>
