Anyone see the Lightning Thief today or yesterday? :) Did you not totally find Logan Lerman completely incineratingly hot? Plus, the rest was pretty good too lol

There seems to be a lot of stuff going around for Alice in Wonderland. That looks quite promising, with all the dark but humorous Tim Burton style woven in. I'm seeing it.

Oh, and did anyone seriously see the chick flick movies out now? (cough, Dear John) Those kind of annoy me...

Any good recs to distract me over break this week? :)

I can’t WAIT for Alice in Wonderland. The cast is mindblowing.

The last movie I saw was Avatar, and that was ages ago D:
Well, I’m on holiday this week, so I’m probably going to see The Princess and the Frog tomorrow. Anyone seen it yet?

The last recent movie I’ve seen is Avatar. I don’t watch too many recent movies for some reason.
However, last night I saw the 1946 version of The Big Sleep. Excellent movie (Bogart=Good movie, Bogart+Bacall=Excellent movie), great dialogue, but confusing plot.

I saw Dear John lol. Very cliched, very predictable. People laughed, people cried, and all on cue. If you’re a fan of old-fashion romance films, I guess it might have some appeal. I wouldn’t recommend it to people I know.

I watched Up a few days ago because I haven’t seen it until then. I thought it was very nice lol.

I also saw the Book of Eli recently, and it was pretty good.

I’m going to watch Alice in Wonderland, but I’ll probably wait until after opening night.

I just saw The Hurt Locker. It was certainly an enjoyable and engaging experience, but I didn’t find it to be particularly memorable. A lot of people consider it to be one of the best movies of '09, and I disagree with them on that.

Besides that, I also saw District 9 and Avatar fairly recently, both of which I enjoyed immensely.

I thought the same thing about The Hurt Locket right after I first saw it. But as I’ve been thinking about it again, I find it to be much better. The directing is amazing. I mean, you felt as if you were actually there. The tension felt so real.

I saw A Serious Man a month ago. Brilliant dark comedy.

The Hurt Locker is amazing–I still remember it well and DO agree with the critics that place it with the Best of '09 lists. Hoping it wins over Avatar at AA.

The only thing I didn’t like about The Hurt Locker was it was based around one man’s obsession and love with being in combat. You can’t really generalize that to a lot of people since most people a) aren’t in the war or b) aren’t excited to leave home to go back to risking their lives in war.

^I think you had to look at his effect on others, mainly his two subordinates. And while most of us aren’t in war, there are still ideas we can draw from the movie that has some, albeit less less less extreme, application to our own lives.

Again, I liked it. But I must admit I didn’t go until it got hyped up from awards (aka: I didn’t go back when it was released near the beginning of 2009)

^Same. I try to avoid hype getting to me, but sometimes I suppose it does. Still, the race looks to be between THL and Avatar, and THL is clearly better. I really loved it–thought it was great. Great directing and editing.

I saw you said A Serious Man—I though it was underrated. Loved it.

Yeah, I thought it would get more nominations. But I guess it went under the radar this year. I mean that movie was so hilarious (I completely fell over laughing when I saw the lake scene… with his brother going off in the boat…and yeah. Hahahahaha). And Jews are great.

I never saw Avatar. I love screenwriting more than visuals. But I heard the script sucked… so I didn’t want to watch it.

OMG! The script was cringe-inducing. You see despite all the nominations Cameron has gotten for Titanic and Avatar, neither were nominated for best screenplay.

Yeah, the movie was HILARIOUS. I loved his dreams/hallucinations.
