Ok im realy considering going to mit and im still in high school(a softmore). i wanted to know what college classes should i take before atending mit? At my highschool there are college english classes and others.

I wouldn't say it's overwhelmingly likely that you're going to fail a class, but many people do (I did), and it's certainly within the realm of possibility.

Other things you should know:

Take your housing choice seriously. Take advantage of Dorm Rush (and FSILG Rush). If your dorm has In-House Rush, take advantage of that too. You don't actually have a permanent dorm until after Dorm Rush.

If you're headed for trouble (academic, family, etc), go talk to the counseling deans in Student Support Services. That's why they're there.

The "average" grade, and how many standard deviations will raise or lower it, varies by department and even by individual classes. If you want to know about a particular class, ask people who took it with that prof.

Nobody gives a s**t how awesome your high school stats were.

If you have to pull an all-nighter to finish your work, then you do what you have to do, but getting adequate sleep is better than proving how macho and hardcore you are that you "only need three hours a night".

Make sure to try hard and find out how MIT classes work when you are on pass fail instead of just messing around first semester, then finding out how it works when you're actually on grades.

Study hard for finals, because in many classes a A on the final and B's on the rest of the tests will get you an A in the class.

thanks for the help is there any gpa requirements and how mutch would I need for college freshman year?

you can read other threads on this board for that sort of information. I'm not trying to be harsh, but learning to spell will probably help you much more than worrying about your GPA.

thanks i can spell most of the time but when im typing fast my spelling is hert. what realy helped you guys to get to mit and what should i concentrate on
