I am also a African american female from east Africa I plan to write about my experiences in the refugee camp I grew up in. And how I adjusted to life in the USA at 8 years old .
Also I’m thinking about apply early decision should I do that?

It is too late for ED, but you can still apply regular decision. Though its harder for regular decision, your gpa looks good assuming thats unweighted. Since your school doesn’t offer APs you should be fine for rigor, you probably want to increase your ACT score, there might be one in december since duke averages between 32 and 35, being an African American certainly helps, but Duke is very selective so I’d try to increase that.
Your ECs are a bit generic, but you can definitely spin how you grew up in East Africa to a good story. I’m assuming since you’re asking about ED that you’re a junior (?) in which case I’d try to get some more stuff for your EC’s. Something that will separate you from the rest of the pack will go a long way especially with your ACT scores.
Also you’re missing letters of rec and stuff, so its hard to assess but if you can get your ACT scores up assuming the rest is good you’d stand a fair chance I believe, hard to say though since it is Duke.
