Denied for Early Admission

Well heres the story..i applied early sent in my transcript and sat scores and then i was asked for my quarter grades and i had 3 D's. I assume thats why i was denied. Im devastated. I surely can get the D's up to mid C's and im taking the sat again this saturday, any suggestions on what I could do right now to make myself look like a better fit?

I have similar stats and was not accepted. I think you need at least a 3.2 unweighted GPA in order to be admitted. Your SAT scores are okay but a higher score would be great. The average ECU student has a combined math and reading score of 1080. They are only focusing on unweighted GPA and a “good” SAT score.

its not the Ds, its the fact that you had no ECs

^ I disagree. I think three D’s in the first quarter when you are applying for admission to college is a red flag to admissions about your ability to be successful in a college setting.

Were you denied or deferred? If you were denied then raising D’s to C’s and retaking SAT will do you no good at ECU because the decision has been made. Of course it would help you if you are still applying for regular decision at other colleges. If deferred at ECU then raising your stats and sending an update might well earn you a second look from admissions.

Well for me. my GPA was 3.7weighted and 2.7un-weighted.
580math 550 Reading 550 writing
1130/1680 total score

Three years of football, 2 years Team bowling captain 6 years total of playing. Many Academic Honors.

I was not denied however they did request my first quarter grades.

I think your D’s did diminish your chances but also you have no EC’s which really looks bad considering your weighted GPA is a 3.1. Your SAT is not too bad but try increasing it because it is barely in the average range for ECU.

If you were denied, then you need to apply to another college (WCU or UNC Charlotte are good consolations). If you were deferred then you still have a chance. Just increase your grades and you should get in.
