Darnit, I'm a rising senior applying and I was so looking forward to the UChicago's Uncommon App for EA. This saddens me. =[

I'm pretty sure the uncommon app will still be available, if you'd like to apply that way.

My D was planning to work on the essays during the summer. So does this mean she has to wait until July 1st to see the essay topics on the Common App website? I checked the Common App website but they don't have Chicago listed yet.

yes you have to wait til july

Thanks for the reply.

Two of the uncommon essays do not change from year to year and one could a head start on those, and there is always option "5" where one provides one's own prompt.

Does this apply to transfer applications, too?

Is the transfer application different? If not, then it will be the same.

nhsharvard, don't worry about the transfer apps at least until you've spent a month or so at Berkeley.

Chicago admission officer Ruth Martin told me Tuesday evening (when she was in town for the Exploring Educational Excellence joint program) that Chicago is definitely still going to have its famous quirky essays as part of its Common Application supplement. Those will still be a very important part of the admission process at Chicago.

Hey tokenadult, thanks for asking! It would be very sad to see the essay prompts go away completely.

Unalove! What are you doing up at this ungodly (for a college student) hour!!!???

Haha, I'm usually on at this hour anyway, but today I have to meet a friend at 9 am CST. But because it's reading period and all, I'm going to come back to my room and take a multihour nap when I'm done.

Good for you!
