What NOT To Say During Your College Interview

Another what not to say during an interview.

I asked, "Tell me why you think that Harvard should accept you." [This is, incidentally, a typical question that interviewers ask.]

The worst response that I ever received was, "I don't know. You tell me."

hahaha. that is bad. I'm starting to worry about any interviews i get now ... hehe

"I heard that your school was ranked REALLY high on the US News "Biggest Party Schools" list."

hehe. too bad I don't plan on interviewing at any of the top 10 party schools.

What was the last book you read
"I dont really read that much"---actual answer

I have a friend who was doing a medicine interview and asked why he wanted to be a doctor he replied "Because my parents want me to be a doctor".

Question: "So why did you choose to apply here?"

Answer: "GOD...whats with all these personal questions?"

Don't tell them you got X on the SAT or you have a Y GPA unless they ask you. You can talk about your accomplishments without mentioning these.

"So it is YAH-LAY right? 'Cause it is like latin and stuff, right? "

"It's Yale."

-------Dead Silence-----

"I guess my interview is over."

"Huh? Why are you still in my office?"

lol dina.

Q. So, what other schools are you applying to?
A. That's not really your business.
-one of my friends in his Yale interview

Q. What do think you got out of the IB program?
A. Not much...it's too much work, and AP would have been better and easier...
-one of my friends in her Northwestern interview

Both got rejected. :(

this thread reminds me of when I was looking at private schools for the kids. (elementary)..The headmaster asked why we were interested in the school, and I made a crack about not wanting them to end up at our State U...oops.......turns out he son was there at the time. Needless to say, my kids didn't get in til the next year! Hopefully my kids will be more discreet in their college interviews.

lol about the State U... that's awesome.. lol.

wait, when they ask you what other schools you're applying to, you can't/shouldn't say "it's none of your business"??

Biggest ouch, never say you're applying to Harvard during a Tufts Alumni Interview. They say that the majority of applicants interview and that you wont believe how many reference Harvard repeatedly. The dean say their alumni are well trained to write that stuff down ;)

"What? There aren't any Tipsy Tuesdays?"

"Umm...No...." [blank face]

"I'm out! Oh you can reject me if you want....I mean sheez....no Tipsy Tuesadays....And you guys call yourselves a university."

I also think the worst you can say is absolutely nothing. At All.

some of these are so funny

any advice for cornell hotel interview?

password, are u from nj?

Don't say, "I'm applying to your school because I need a safety."
