<p>Not mentioning the Core at all would be like shooting yourself in the foot…why wouldn’t you write about something that the school is proud of?</p>
<p>^ I’d hardly think so. When 20k applicants write about how the Core “brings the class together in their goals of learning” (or some variation), it’s hard to stand out. Obviously the Core plays a huge part in the Columbia education – but devoting an essay to it is predictable.</p>

<p>^ well, you’ve only got 1500 characters, there’s virtually much no room for an intro, body, AND conclusion. be concise. </p>
<p>hell, i barely fit in two paragraphs, much less an intro, body, and conclusion.</p>
