What novels have some good vocabulary?

I'm really not into the whole memorizing a long list of words thing, so I thought in order to prep myself for the SAT, it would be a good idea to read some more or less difficult novels.
Meaning nothing like Harry Potter or similar.^^
Could you recommend me some books, that are difficult but not totally boring?

The Bourne series by Robert Ludlum.

Great thrillers, and there is plenty of SAT level vocab in there. I got an 800 on CR and even I have to look up words occasionally :)

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Frankenstein

The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.

Jane Eyre
Blindness
Gravity's Rainbow (If you can understand this book Cr should be cake, i got an 800 and my brain screams every time i try to read it)

I'd suggest reading some short stories by Poe -- not only are they entertaining, but the writing style is also enjoyable and constitutes great preparation for the SAT.

Thanks for the replies.

Slaughter-House 5 is a good one

To prove my point on the Bourne series: in the last 3 pages I've read I encountered:

anachronistic
obsequious
paragon

1984 by George Orwell
Metamorphosis by Kafka
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Billy Budd by Herman Melville

Sophie's Choice by William Styron
