what now?

So I've been looking at some stats, and the chances of being accepted off the waitlist are slim to none. I know I have to accept this, but I'm just wondering if any of this will help...

Tomorrow I plan on calling the Office of Admissions to see if there is anyone I can speak to about my status. If I get a name and e-mail, or even talk to this person, I'm going to send them a lengthy e-mail thanking them for considering me and expressing my continued interest.

Also, my friend's mom works at William and Mary and says she can get the Dean to write a letter of recommendation to go along with my e-mail. Would this be alright, or would it look like I am desperate and trying to get in based soley on who I know? :-/

I am going to be removing my acceptance.

hopefully you then have a better chance. :)

amnsesia: where are you going? must be pretty legit to pass up honors at uva.

justbeachy: getting a rec from the Dean of William and Mary would be good, but i'm pretty sure that recs from people who personally know you are way better... uva said they've gotten recs from governors and presidents before, but it doesn't really help much unless the governors and/or presidents actually personally knew the person.
