What Now?

Daughter has been admitted, sent in her acceptance, received the "Road Map" and completed most of the online information. What now? From the website, it appears no orientation until August 24th. And roommate assignments will be available mid July. When will she schedule courses? Would have thought the university would have more information by now. Other friends have orientation scheduled throughout the summer months. Guess all the uncertainty is a bit unnerving!

We live close by so she will go and get her ID one day soon.

Momray, if you look on the Road Map, there's a schedule for registration:
Murray Scholars-July 30-Aug 22
Monroe and Sharpe Scholars-Aug 1-Aug 22
Transfer students-Aug 6-Aug 22
New Freshman (including W&M Scholars)-August 13-August 22
Your daughter will register on the Banner system.

Make sure she checks the Road map because there are other deadlines in there for ordering their computers, choosing their meal plans etc

W&M does their Freshman orientation right before classes begin and there's an orientation schedule going up on the Dean of Students website on July 1!

thank you, atrmom. What is the Banner system? Also, daughter complains that the information she is providing on net from the roadmap, seems like things aren't being processed/saved, whatever. Or she states she can't find the information while logged on.

I think the kids find Banner through their w&m.edu account. We made a copy of everything before my daughter hit the send button, but I'll ask her about it when she gets home...she's out right checking on all the applications she submitted for a summer job.

You say you're close to Williamsburg? Where do you live? We're coming from Fairfax County.

Chesapeake. Quick trip up to get her ID card and walk the campus again with only an hour drive.

And she was independant. Had to do it all on her own. Now she's not sure what's up and me left trying to figure it out.

Banner is the way that a lot of things get done at WM, including grades, registration, financial aid, etc. To get to Banner, go to my.wm.edu (no www) and type in your user name and password, which I presume were given to you already at some point. Then click login, and it will take you to your MyWM page, which has a lot of useful information, especially for new students. Up at the top are a bunch of icons, one of which is Banner, which then you would click on. Then click Student and Financial Aid, then click Registration. Then you have a number of options.

thanks so much, inchoative
