What now?

So I was rejected for the Fall Term of 2009:(

So to the current students at UF, what is my next step? What can I do?

I'm not a current student. Fellow reject from last year. :)

I assume you're thinking of an appeal? FYI, everyone here on CC who appealed to UF (including yours truly) later had their rejections upheld.

I also don't think UF is accepting Freshman transfers anymore. Now, it's only those who have completed their AA degree.

I heard it's really difficult to have any appeal heard. I think I'll go through with that process just to see what happens. Thanks for the advice,

And if it does not go through, Santa Fe is not bad-plus students can still participate in programs or organizations at UF and they get discounts for the UF charter buses and city buses. Just make sure you have a successful plan so when it is time to transfer it goes smoothly.

What is the deal with transfering? Is it a lock to get in?

no, but the university's admissions documented it in their bulletins and it has been known, that it IS easier, due to lower requirements. But if a student receives his/her AA(60+credits) they are guaranteed admission to a state university, however, not so nececerally his/her first choice. Good luck, Gainesville is a decent place, whether you go to UF or Santa Fe, you will have fun.

Is there any way after being rejected you could possibly appeal the decision? I know its swinging blindly.. but is there?

Yes, there is still hope. Despite what some may say. The university admitted, let's say, 9,000 Applicants, many are not going to enroll-there are some spots opened for waitlisted applicants and appealing students. Good luck.

May I ask how you appeal a decision?

I am not quite sure how, but the admissions comittee will create a package-and I do not know when they will post this up-maybe in the middle/end of next week or so (you will probably have to request one). But make sure you do it creatly and improve or continue to keep high grades your senior year, you probably can retake the ACT/SAT as well and improve your score. Plus, you can ask your guidance counselors next week if they are familiar with it.

You have to contact them and request the appropriate forms for the appeal. It's a complicated and drawn out process that lasts sometimes into may.

UF is not accepting any transfer applicants without their AA. You can find that on the UF website under transfers I believe

But all universities purposely over-admit to compensate for those who won't take the offer of admission. Last year, I only remember OOS students getting waitlisted. If anything, no one will be waitlisted this year as a way for the university to save money and cut their enrollment during the budget crisis.

Anyway, you can appeal by asking to do so via email. That's why they release their decisions after they close for a holiday weekend. :)

alright thanks, keezy and vincanity1.. and congrats

Where would we e-mail that request?

you're welcome. and lets us know how it goes

I am not sure, but you can search the site or call next week.

Thanks Keezy!

no problem, make sure you all do it correctly. Many others will try to appeal and they do not grant everyone's wish (obviously).

And yes, the admissions committee is aware that the total admits will not enroll, however, some officers will let you know that there are spots up (not-guaranteed) for students who are appealing.

Keezy, will I get a chance to interview?
