Hello everyone,
I am majoring in cell and molecular biology. Next semester my school is offering these classes: genetics, cell biology, human physiology, human anatomy & physiology lab, biochemistry, and biology of gender and sexuality. All of these classes are required for my major but I am not sure in what order I should take these classes (ex: do I take genetics before biochem). Does anyone have any suggestions on which classes I should take before taking another?
You need to check your college catalog to see if any of the courses have pre-reqs. You should also consult with your academic advisor at your college who will have a better idea of what these classes cover than random strangers on the internet. One last place to look is on the bio dept webpage where most college has sample 4 year schedules laid out.
But guessing from the courses titles–
Biochem usually requires 1 or 2 semesters of organic chemistry as a pre-req.
All of the other classes are usually stand alone classes that don’t require any pre-reqs other than an intro level class in biology. Take them in whatever order you like. I’ve seen genetics and cell bio as the most common next class past intro bio because either or both are pre-reqs for senior level classes.
Human anatomy probably needs to be taken concurrently with the A&P lab.
