I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. Right now, I’m only applying to Ohio State and University of Cincinnati. I’m also looking at schools out of state though. My GPA is a 3.01 UW and a 3.34 W. I have a 31C on the ACT (35E 27M 36R 27S). Pretty nice mix of ECs (soccer, piano, mix of clubs, etc). Also, my essay is really good. In college, I’m looking to major in business-undecided. UC and Ohio State have really good business schools, which is why I chose them. I was also thinking about Indiana University, University of Washington, and UConn? (I heard they have good business schools). Anyways, my question is, where else should I apply? I believe that for me, UC is a safety and Ohio State is a match/low reach. ($ is not a huge issue)
When you say $ are not a huge issue, are you saying your parents have agreed to pay almost $50,000 per year for an out of state pubic university like U Washington?
A 3.01 UW is too low for UWA OOS.
Miami-Ohio (Farmer) has a better Business School than tOSU and UC, BTW, so you should apply there.
UC is a match, not a safety. A safety would be Akron, Bowling Green, John Carroll, Capitol, etc.
Business is a fairly common major and many business schools are respectable. If money is truly no problem for your family (no loans, etc), then where do you want to experience 4 years (or longer)? Which state or climate or type of geography? Pick that, then look for decent schools around there. Being full pay won’t guarantee you get in, esp at reaches, but it will assist your application a little.
Many places that hire tend to like local schools. Not all obviously, but many. If there’s somewhere you want to live, choosing a respected school in that area can be helpful.
My oldest graduated with a business major at a small Christian LAC and had a job he loves right out of school in the nearby city. That’s not uncommon for many schools.
School choice for business matters more if your dream is to work at big places in NYC or similar.
@MYOS1634 I toured Miami and did not like it.
