What other colleges should I consider?

I'm a junior beginning the college research process. I've had my eyes on the UCs and USC so far. But I want to know what other colleges would be a good fit for what I want. I really want a school with good business and/or psychology program. Also, I want a pretty decent to large sized school in an urban environment. But above all else I want a school of really smart kids that know how to party. (I'm not saying 24/7 but I want a decent party scene as well as an intellectual campus)

My stats are here:

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=180644%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=180644</a></p>

Please recommend some colleges that you think deserve research on my part. Thanks a lot.

Penn, Cornell, Michigan, Illinois, Washington, Wisconsin

Michigan and Illinois aren't in urban areas.

Penn
MIT
Harvard
Columbia
Wash. U-St.Louis
Emory
UC-Berkeley
UCLA
Georgetown
Johns Hopkins
U of Chicago

One thing that is great about the US is that there are so many colleges that regardless of how specific your criteria are, you can find at least several schools that fit really well. Now the OP says he wants urban and partying. So why are you guys mentioning places like Cornell, Hopkins, and Chicago?

You dont have to be in a big city to go to decent parties.... Its called house party dude, or dorm party or wadever... lol :D

Drew, Ann Arbor is a city of 120,000 and Ann Arbor is in the heart of the city. That makes the University Urban. Furthermore, within a 30 mile radius, you have another 5 million people, the country's 5th largest and busiest airport, the nation's fourth largest athletic and entertainment hub etc...

MoolahDiamond, check out the following schools:

Carnegie Mellon University
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of Pennsylvania
University of Texas-Austin

try columbia, nyu.

Detroit is not 30 miles away from Ann Arbor. The core 'downtown' area in Ann Arbor is small, Ann Arbor is mainly residential. And Ann Arbor has yet to surpass 120k

i would check out michigan.. although its not in an urban area.. its big enough to feel like one

UChicago

I am mentioning it because I am biased. :)

Chicago does have some partying, but not to the extent that you probably want. But, it does have those smart students you seek.

Why not BYU? It's not urban and they don't party, but they have a business school. (Just continuing the trend of unhelpful posts here.)

Drew, the furtherst point from Ann Arbor to Detroit is 45 miles. The outskirts of the city are a mere 25 miles away. Most of the fun things to do in Detroit are within 35 miles from Ann Arbor. I have never had to drive more than 45 minutes to get anywhere. It takes that long to get to some places within congested cities like Houston, Chicago, NYC and Los Angeles.

As for Ann Arbor's population, it is close to 120,000, which makes it a city. That's not including the 40,000 students who attend universities.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Arbor%5B/url%5D">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Arbor</a></p>

Johns Hopkins isn't much of a party school i dont think, Tufts kids know how to party, what about Vandy?

NVman, you aren't really helping the OP. He clearly stated he wants to major in Business. Tufts, Vanderbilt and Johns Hopkins do not have undergraduate Business programs.

he said psych too though right? but yeah you're right, i didn't take that into account really, im just trying to think of good urban schools that have a party scene. my bad

Thanks for all the help guys, I'll start researching all the ones that have been posted.

I'm taking it you've never went during rush hour? Last time it took me an hour and fifteen minutes.

Drew, I lived in Ann Arbor 7 years. I commuted to the Ren-Cen daily for over 6 months. I know about rush hour.

boston college has a school of management.. its suburban but right near boston and it has a good party scene
