What other forums do you vist?

..besides CC. If it's not obvious explain what it's focus/them is. For me, it's just CC and lacrosseforums.com (pretty self explanatory)

leykisonline.com
LeageofSocialistDemocrats aka LSD

thefashionspot.com

ym.com Book forum

broadbandreports.com

AoPS, APF, ML, ANT, and a few others. :)

SDN Network

The NetHack and ADOM newsgroups! (I lurk.)
Oh, and I visit AoPS occasionally. (My username is fizix.)
And I used to post on a ton of AOL forums back in 8th-9th grade.

I'm too lazy to actually start posting a lot on any forums besides CC. It's nervewracking. A bit like making new friends.

televisionwithoutpity.com

Art of Problem Solving once in a while.

I sometimes skim the forums on vogue.com lol

SW, and I lurk JUB. :o

Sometimes I check out the Princeton Review forum...but it REALLY pales in comparison to CC.

Sometimes I lurk on the American Idol forums lol.

Sand Trap, aFRadio, SDN Network, Piano Street, CreateBlog, and LastFM.

www.hailredskins.com

Heavengames: heavengames.com (since 2001, post count 11,000, though 8200 were made in 2001-2002). I pretty much only stay there since the community has low turnover rates and I'm familiar with the culture there, so why abandon a place that you put so much time in? Concorde fallacy, heh
physicsforums.com (post count ~100)
imminst.org (last year)

In the past, I frequented Kongming's Archives (the-scholars.com) and some sections of Artofproblemsolving.com (but the forum was somewhat depressing). I want to go to a more academic forum, but the scary thing is that people at those forums know SO MUCH about their own topics, whereas I'm more of a generalist.

I only have > 1,000 posts here and HG (and in the forums of an Age of Empires II gaming clan that died in 2003), and > 100 at Physicsforums.com and AOPS. Those forums are all relatively clean compared with the BitTorrent forums I briefly visited (which are full of immature posts and spam). Many gaming boards are also full of such posts, but HeavenGames was surprisingly free of them (I suppose that the official gaming boards have more of the unintelligent masses, but there tends to be a selection factor for the non-official ones).

(of course, i might just be biased in favor of HeavenGames since I'm so familiar with it).

I think we can draw some distinction between the forums with a distinct community and those which don't have one (the forums without one often have "come and go" posters). The forums with more distinct communities usually have more in-forum jokes and slang, and less "who are you, what are your interests, etc.." threads. It's actually funny wandering into the off-topic forums of various forums and seeing their differences.

cc, sleepywood, basilmarket, topicstyle

Speaking of forum turnover, it makes me feel bad about my age. I used to be among the youngest forumers at HG (since I registered there at 11) and at CC (where I registered at 14). But I feel so old here now, and it only gets worse, since CC has very high turnover rates. Most forums for specific games have fairly low turnover rates since most specific games are only popular on the market for a couple of years, attracting few newbies as the game ages (and some people stay) - this does not apply for games that stay on the market for years, like umm, MMORPGs. But for the newest games, now I really am old compared with the 12-15 year old audience.

And I sound too much like an old man with more memories than dreams, even though I really should be having more dreams. Ahh/ One famous social scientist said that the best way to measure a country's "optimistic index" is the ratio of dreams to memories. (of course we can't quantify it, but I'm sure you get the point). More memories than dreams => lack of motivation to innovate.

used to browse AoPS until it made me feel stupid, and cogito :)
