Hi, I’m a junior and in just a matter of months I will have to decide where to and where not to apply. I have a 3.8 UW/3.98 W which should both go up after this semester. 33 ACT and decent ECs. I take 3 APs right now and have a difficult course load, but not the most difficult possible, probably like a 4/5 with 5 being the most difficult. My school doesn’t rank and I go to a very prestigious public school in Ohio. I would like to Major in Sport Management, and wherever I want to go to school I would like sports to be very big (great fan support in basketball or football or both where games are a huge deal), and I plan on joining a fraternity, so I would like somewhere where greek life is generally bigger.
UT Austin is my dream school
I will also be applying to
Indiana
Michigan
UNC Chapel Hill
Cincinnati (Safety)
Maybe Rice (Yes I know sports aren’t popular there but I have a few reasons that I want to go there)
I don’t want to go to Ohio State at all, and financially I am able to go to any of the schools listed above even though I’m OOS
My dad said I can’t apply anywhere out of state that is academically inferior to OSU, which I totally understand.
So I’m trying to find maybe 2-3 more schools to apply to, even though there’s like a 75% chance that if I get into UT I will go there, however I would be happy at any of the schools listed.
Should I apply to any of these, and does anyone have anywhere they think I should apply additionally?
UCLA (I know it’s very very hard to get into, but why not take my chances)
Penn State
University of Florida
UMD
Again, I’ve wanted to go to UT Austin for a long time, and I have a decent shot to get in there (I am applying to the College of Education which is known as the easiest to get into, a lot of the athletes with lower stats go there.) But, I’m trying not to get cocky that I will get in for sure and sort of preparing to get denied, just so I have options.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
