What path should I take?

Hey my first post so sorry if it doesn’t belong here. My first year at UCM didn’t go so well. I ended the year with a 1.55GPA, was put on academic probation and failed the SAP standard for financial aid. I was eligible to enroll for the upcoming semester but because I failed to meet the SAP requirement I had no way of paying for the semester and decided to withdraw from UCM.

Now a lot of questions here but I was wondering:

  1. If I transfered to CC and do well there will it clear the SAP for UC or is it separate
  2. Because I earned less than 30 units -earned 27 out of 31 attempted units- at UCM, if i transfer to CC, can I re-establish myself as an CC-to-UC student instead of an UC-to-UC student and be eligible for TAG for another UC
  3. If I cannot go for TAG at another UC, should I go back to UCM

I’m fishing out my questions to allow me more breathing place and if none of the above options are available, I’m okay with attending a CSU. Thanks!

Most of these questions can be answered by your advisors at UCM. Start there.

i agree, you need to sit with an advisor and figure out the right path. I imagine you could raise your GPA by re-taking the any D/F courses but, you probably need to do that at Merced to have them replace the grade. Maybe they have a summer session or an on-line course. Otherwise, you are digging out of a pretty deep hole. Raising a 30 unit 1.55 GPA to be competitive for any UC will be a challenge - TAG or not.

You should be able to make enough $ this summer to cover the cost of one semester at UCM. Go back, get your GPA and unit count where it needs to be to stay and regain your financial aid.

I’d recommend asking an advisor at the local CC. AFAIK, you would re-establish yourself as a cc-uc student though.
