<p>Liberal Arts Colleges with financial aid resources get a lot of financial aid applications. If you compare the # of international applicants at LACs with financial aid to LACs w/o, you will notice that the former get 2 or 3 times as many applicants, sometimes even more than that. (Try Petersons College Search for International Students for concrete numbers.) Here is a quote from the Colby forum:</p>

<p>I have no idea what the situation is at bigger universities. But most of the universities with financial aid for international students are so selective (Harvard, Stanford, etc) that applying for financial aid or not will not impact your chances all that much, if at all. The big question is whether you would be a competitive applicant for these colleges to begin with.</p>
